The Good Stuff Shuffle

Garage sales, op shops, bulk waste collections and kerbside rubbish are common ways of getting rid of household items. While these systems serve a large-scale purpose, they miss the mark on localised community connections and genuine encouragement of sustainable, environmental care practices.

The Good Stuff Shuffle is different. It’s a community-powered, waste-reducing treasure trove where people come together to share, give, and take with a focus on environmental sustainability and community. At a Shuffle event, everything is free.

This isn’t just about passing off unwanted goods. It’s about building a culture of gifting and receiving, where items are valued for their perceived value rather than a monetary value.

The Good Stuff Shuffle encourages long-term reductions in consumption and waste. It’s a place where items find new homes, where people can learn about reusing and upcycling, and where every person plays a role in reducing our collective environmental impact. Whether you’re bringing something to give away or simply looking for something new-to-you, The Good Stuff Shuffle is a chance to rethink your relationship with stuff.

We believe that sustainability is a community effort. By coming together, we can minimise waste, make better use of what we already have, and create a culture of resourcefulness that benefits us all.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Good Stuff that people bring to give and receive is all free. It is the discretion of the event organiser whether an entrance fee or a table fee is preferred.

Upon booking a gifting table, Givers will receive a document about the expectations of the event. This includes that responsibility of unhomed gifts on the day must be taken home by the Giver.

We encourage a real mix of Good Stuff items, especially if these are things that op shops may not normally take. This may include clothes, homewares, half used stationary, books, CD’s, larger items, leftover building goods or even broken items (with a sign outlining the problem).

If it fits in your car and fits on a 6ft market table space, then it’s okay.

Electrical items, medication, alcohol, knives (excluding cutlery knives), perishable food, preloved underwear and swimwear is not accepted.

Each Gifter is given 1 x 6ft market table worth of space to share their wares.

We encourage you to buddy up with a friend to share a table’s worth of Good Stuff items that you’d like to gift to others.

After booking your Gifting table, you’ll be emailed a guideline for how to prepare, including accessibility, times and space.

Every Good Stuff item is gifted for free, with zilcho money or swapping involved. Plus, there’s an additional bonus of sharing stories with the giftee so they can continue loving the item you no longer need.

We love it when care and thoughfulness is taken to display the items you wish to gift. We know that people are more likely to love your item when they see you’ve taken the time to respect the item with the presentation.
