The Good Stuff Shuffle

Garage sales, op shops, bulk waste collections and kerbside rubbish are common ways of getting rid of household items. While these systems serve a large-scale purpose, they miss the mark on localised community connections and genuine encouragement of sustainable, environmental care practices.

What Makes the Good Stuff Shuffle Different

It’s a community-powered, waste-reducing treasure trove where people come together with a focus on environmental sustainability and community. Think garage sale, but with many garage sales in the one community space.

  • Easier for shoppers to choose from a larger selection of goods in the same space.
  • Safer for sellers who prefer their house and location remain anonymous.
  • Richer for the neighbourhood as it draws in a number of people to stay in the one space and surrounding area for a longer time.

A Community Effort for Sustainability

The Good Stuff Shuffle encourages long-term reductions in consumption and waste. It’s a place where items find new homes, where people can learn about reusing and upcycling, and where every person plays a role in reducing our collective environmental impact. Whether you’re selling your wares to downsize, move house or declutter, or simply looking for something new-to-you at a great price, The Good Stuff Shuffle is a chance to rethink your relationship with stuff.

We believe that sustainability is a community effort. By coming together, we can minimise waste, make better use of what we already have, and create a culture of resourcefulness that benefits us all.

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s something truly valuable about seeing your items re-homed with care. Unlike the anonymity of traditional donations to the op shop, The Good Stuff Shuffle offers a direct and heartfelt way to pass things on—knowing they’ll be re-homed with appreciation and purpose.

Every Good Stuff Shuffle is different. Stallholders have intentionally chosen items to sell that are of quality and can be re-homed with intention.

What makes it even more special is community shoppers have the chance to find out the story behind the new-for-them item, adding more meaning to the personal sale.

Our team cares deeply about people and the planet and this event brings both together. Conversations spark, stories are shared, and sometimes, new friendships begin.

We encourage a real mix of quality Good Stuff items. This may include homewares kitchenware, dining ware, bedroom, clean linen, books, CD’s, games, larger (yet still portable) items and miscellaneous.

And also other items that op shops wouldn’t ordinarily take, such as leftover stationary, surplus crafting items, selected broken items (with explanation), unopened pantry products. These are perfect for crafters and creatives who may find an additional use for these.

Non-acceptable items include electrical, medication, alcohol, knives (excluding cutlery knives), perishable food, pillows, doonas, preloved underwear and swimwear.

Sellers have the option of donating selected unsold goods to ReNewy Living’s online circular marketplace. Otherwise, each seller is responsible for taking home items not sold on the day.

As a stallholder on the ReNewy Living Good Shuffle database, you’ll be sent emails in regards to organisation and location. There’ll be an allocated bump in and bump out time, as well as the time for the community to shop your stall.

As an community shopper, look out for details on Humanitix (ticket booking platform) for the next Good Stuff Shuffle event.

To become a ReNewy Living Good Stuff Shuffle stallholder, please email Mardi at mardi@renewyliving.com.au to express your interest. An information pack will be sent with the details. There will be a small stallholder fee for each event.

Each stallholder is responsible for bringing their own 6ft table (unless stated otherwise) and bringing as many items that will fit on the table. Choose items that no longer serve you but could bring value to someone else in the community. You never know what people are looking for!
