Opshop-ology: A Talk & Walk of the Local Op Shops

Did you know that op shops are one of the original concepts of a recycling and reuse economy?

Join Mardi from ReNewy Living as the moderator for a panel discussion of op shop managers and shop the local op shops.

Learn about the challenges, strengths and purpose of managing an op shop directly from the manager’s perspective. Visit the local op shops with greater understanding about the complexities of donating and shopping second hand.

About Opshop-ology

Charity op shops are increasingly overwhelmed by donations and have become the dumping ground for our stuff. Initially created from a social welfare ideology, more people than ever are choosing op shopping for environmental reasons.

Discover the beauty, benefits & tips for op shopping mindfully, followed by a self-paced walk to unearth the treasure trove of the local second hand shopping community.

In this workshop, you will:-

  • Hear a panel of op shop managers discuss the nitty gritty behind-the-scenes answers you’ve always wanted to know.
  • Connect with your local community op shop and support local businesses
  • Discover the wealth of op shops in your local area

If you’re ready to support local second hand shopping, make more environmentally conscious decisions, and love learning about new aspects of simple sustainable living, then this is your ideal event.

Workshop Inclusions

  • 2 hour guided facilitation by local eco living educator, Mardi from ReNewy Living
  • Map of the local op shops

What you’ll need…

  • Please wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking, browsing, and shopping
  • The walk between op shops will be on footpaths with ramps, stairs and hills
  • BYO reusable water bottle and Keep Cup, if you prefer.
